One of the members of the tennis club, Elizabeth Wynndam-Hill, was in a dangerous relationship. Her fiance would become violent and jealous after drinking. When rumours spread around the village of Elizabeth cheating on him, she had very good reason to fear for her life.

 

David Sterling, who had recently joined the club, fell for Elizabeth the first time he partnered her on court. Despite a close friend warning him about Elizabeth's fiance, David decided to pursue her. For Elizabeth, the attention was the last thing she needed.

 

In recent months fear had gripped the residents of their sleepy village after a series of brutal after-dark knife attacks. The police were struggling in their hunt, until they uncovered evidence implicating David. With threats closing in from all sides, David's life is taken over by a wave of violence and fear. Then, when he feared things couldn't get any worse, he makes the most heartbreaking discovery of all...
